Cambodia’s economic growth forecast to reach 7.2% in 2014, 7.5% next year – World Bank

Cambodia’s economic growth is forecasted to reach 7.2 percent in 2014, and 7.5 percent next year according to a report by World Bank on Monday.

The report said Cambodia’s garments continue to be the key engine of growth, followed by construction. The poverty rate continued to fall, to 18.6 percent in 2012, but the pace of reduction has slowed from 2004-2011, when higher rice prices propelled growth.

With an annual average of 7.7 percent for two decades now it is now the sixth-fastest in the world from 1993 to 2013. …
